Your Hair, Your Health

Exercise has become a very big part of my life once again…yes it started for vain reasons…I want fit into a bikini I wore on my 1st wedding anniversary…but it started none the less…LOL! I work out now at least 4x’s a week, faithfully…and it’s one of the best things I have ever done for myself! Not only have I lost weight, but I FEEL GREAT...not lookin' to bad either...LOL! My mood has improved, my outlook has increased, and my energy increased!  I am regularly sitting in the steam room so my hair and skin are getting some added benefits and bonuses from that habit as well...I'm still working on the food aspect, but even that has improved since we've incorporated more juicing into our diets (totally inspired by AfricaCheetah...though we've had a juicer for at least 2 years now), less sugar-filled foods (which we already didn't do much of, but cutting back even more), less eating out, and more!

Recently I came across this story about Black Women, our hair and our health. Many women of color are blaming their hair maintenance on not working out…if they work out their hair will sweat out and that all day trip to the salon will be all for nothing, but what women are not understanding is the lack of exercise also = obesity and poor health. Here is a really good reason to go natural….saving your health and possibly your life!

What do you think about the part where the young lady stated she believes straight hair is more professional? I wanted to hear more about why she felt that way, but it was a short segment and they did not have her elaborate…figures it was still angled to push towards straight hair versus natural…my opinion at least. So what did you think of the segment?

Share your workout hair styles...ponytails, twists, braids, scarfs, etc...please share your pics as well!
