A Moment for Reflection

I just needed to take a moment for reflection on life and all the devastation that is hitting our world. As I pray for financial blessings, and changes in behavior, a better life situation, and other monetary items, I am slapped by my selfishness and lack of awareness of the REAL issues surrounding the world. I realize, that I, like many live in this little bubble that includes only those closest to us ~ family incidents, close friends happenings, local events, etc..., but we seem to miss the BIG picture, at least I do!

When devastation does take place, I/we tend to be conscious of it as though it were a fad, an issue today (in today) and once no more media attention is brought to it then the issue is no longer of importance (out tomorrow). This has to change; it takes years and years of continued support for change to happen! Take the struggle of our ancestors of slavery who suffered for 100's of years before freedom was recognized (well a form of freedom, but that's a whole other issue). It took fighting, funding, committed support, fleeing and more before our ancestors were able to walk freely among society.

World devastation is the same...it does not go away because we send gifts for the first few months. Many of these people will end up in refugee camps for the rest of their lives, not having a real home or education. We have become such a selfish society, consumed with how to better our own lives, trying to attain more, mainly material possessions, often forgetting those who NEED not want.

Today needs to be a day of reflection, for me at least...How do I/we help change the circumstances of someone else’s life today and everyday?
